NEW HIRE PROBATION
Full time employees serve a 90-day (calendar) introductory period from the date of hire.
PENSION
In compliance with the County Pension Law, a minimum of 9% will be deducted for retirement. The deductions will be taken from the start of employment.
HEALTH INSURANCE
Full-time employees are eligible for insurance on the first of the month, following two full months of employment. Full-time employees are offered medical coverage through Capital Blue Cross for themselves and any eligible dependents.
A $20,000 term life insurance policy with Accidental Death and Dismemberment is paid by the County for all employees meeting eligibility requirements. Completed forms for the above benefits must be submitted before coverage can become effective.
A flexible benefit program is available. Benefit dollars are offered by the County to help pay for benefits in the flex plan. The amount of benefit dollars offered depends on your Capital BlueCross medical option.
A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) benefit is also available. An FSA is part of an employee’s salary that is taxable income and is calculated after the elected amounts for Dependent Care (DDC) or Unreimbursed Medical (URM) are deducted from their salary.
Some other benefits that are offered include dental, vision, supplemental term life, disability insurance, cancer and accident care plans. Dependent life insurance policy and a deferred compensation (457) plan are also available to employees through payroll deductions.
PAID TIME OFF (PTO)
For the employee’s first year of employment, PTO hours begin accumulating on the first day of employment. These hours may be used after successful completion of the employee’s first thirty days (30) of employment. Should employment terminate, the employee will be required to reimburse the County for used but unearned benefit time. Likewise, if PTO time has been earned and not taken, as long as a two week notice is given, the employee will be paid for such time.
HOLIDAYS
The County currently offers eleven (11) paid holidays a year.
