Program Description

Intellectual Disabilities

The Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs  joins with individuals with mental retardation, their families, friends, and the entire support system in stating that all individuals have the right to determine the course of their own lives.  They need to be free to exercise this right and to accept responsibility for their decisions.  This is SELF-DETERMINATION.  Some individuals will need support in making decisions about their lives.  The role of family members, friends, and the general community is essential in helping individuals determine their life goals.  Most of all, those identified by individuals as the most important people in their lives have the most significant role in helping individuals realize their dreams.

Early Intervention

The Pennsylvania Office of Child Development & Early Learning joins with counties and families in providing this program to children ages Birth-3 who have, or who are at risk of having, a disability or developmental delay.  Services are provided in the child’s natural environments.
