School-Based Probation Program

Program Description

The focus of School-Based Probation is to assist youth under the jurisdiction of the Courts, to succeed academically and behaviorally while attending public school. In addition, opening coummunication between the Probation Department and the schools allows both systems to come together to enhance the education process.

Probation Officers assigned to schools advocate for the student. Responsibilities of School-Based Officers include monitoring and sanctioning all assigned clients for attendance, discipline, grades, and to some extent home issues. Officers are willing to provide additional sevice to schools when time allows by chaperoning extra curricular activities, assisting with bus duty, classroom presentations, group facilitation, and community service supervision. Probation Officers are encouraged to be visible between classes and during lunch periods.
